The Korea Association for Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Tuesday accepted WINNER rapper Song ‘Mino’ Min-ho’s apology for using offensive rap lyrics.

Mino, a member of K-pop group WINNER, had stirred controversy with the self-written rap lines “spread your legs wide like you are at a maternity clinic” in the July 10 episode of TV program “Show Me the Money 4.”

KAOG issued an official complaint Monday against Mino and the relevant authorities as the uncensored lyrics were considered “sexually affronting towards women and an offense to the 4,000 or so obstetricians and gynecologists working around the clock for the medical welfare of women and birth of the future generation.”

Mino quickly apologized and explained that he meant no harm, while Mnet, the channel for “Show Me The Money 4,” removed the controversial part from the filmed clip.

Official apologies were offered to KAOG as network officials acknowledged they overlooked what could have come across as offensive and vowed for tougher screening to prevent a recurrence of a similar incident.

KAOG said, “This morning, Mnet and YG Entertainment each sent official written apologies. Mnet also made a call to offer a visit from all the relevant production heads in asking for pardon.”

“We judged their words as sincere, and thus decided to accept the apology,” the organization said.

KAOG said it hoped Mino’s apology will help dispel the biases against medical examinations at maternity clinics.
