Beomgyu of Tomorrow X Together went live to talk to his fans after a dance lesson.

Over a fast food meal, he talked about the band’s recent cover of Shinee’s “Sherlock.”

“I used to listen to band music only when I was in school,” said the idol. Unlike the other band members, who were well-versed in the song and the choreography, he’d had no clue. Assuming otherwise, however, the dance instructor had ploughed through the practice.

“I tend to stress out when I lag behind so I confided that I hadn’t even seen the performance on television,” he said. But the next day, the practice had continued at the same pace, and he’d had to keep up with his teeth clenched.

Beomgyu confessed that he sometimes was jealous of his bandmates as they’d all dreamed of becoming idols since they were young.

“My dreams kept changing quite often,” he said. He’d wanted to be a car designer so that his father, a race car driver, could drive a car he’d created. He’d also thought about following in his father’s footsteps before he discovered his love of guitar and decided he wanted to play in a band.

DAY6’s Sungjin celebrates mother’s birthday

Sungjin of DAY6 went live to mark his mother’s birthday and enjoyed a long chat with his fans.

He’d almost forgotten that it was her birthday and decided that hosting a livestream in honor of her would make her happy. He’d thought of going live while taking a walk as he’d done several times, but he’d woken up too early -- around 4 in the morning -- and had gone for a run so he wouldn’t fall asleep again and further mess up his sleep patterns.

He’d put some effort into his appearance that day, he boasted, standing up and flipping the camera around to show viewers his outfit. He’d even worn a coat, something he usually reserved for family occasions, chuckled the musician.

“I have a feeling that my mother is watching this,” he said, adding, “Happy birthday, mom.” The band had once had a concert on his father’s birthday and Sungjin had sung “Happy Birthday” to him, he recalled.

ITZY’s Chaeryeong discusses sister act

Chaeryeong of ITZY went live from her room and enjoyed a lengthy chat with her fans.

She’d planned to start at 8 p.m. but got carried away while cleaning up her room, she confided with a bashful smile.

Some fans complimented her on her performance in the group’s cover of Tiara’s “Roly-Poly” and asked her to do a dance livestream. She wanted to, but since it was the end of the year, the practice rooms at the company were occupied, she explained.

Chaeryeong also was happy that fans liked the joint performance by her and her sister, IZ*ONE’s Chaeyeon, at a recent award show.

“We were discussing what we should do … and I recommended ‘Criminal’ to my sister,” she said. The sisters covered Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s “Rain On Me” that night as well.

She’d realized that there were only a few days left in this year and had hurried to turn on V Live, she said. In the new year, she said she planned to start writing a diary even though she usually only keeps her resolutions for a month.

Astro’s Jinjin talks over late lunch

Jinjin of Astro also had a burger and fries while catching up with fans.

It is a meal he often orders at the company, he said, relishing the late lunch. This was his first meal of the day, since he’d woken up only a few hours before, he said.

He asked viewers what they’d done for Christmas and told them that he’d worked on his music.

“I’ve been working really hard, although I don’t know when (the songs) will be put out,” he said. He has more than 10 songs in store and is waiting for the right time. As for upcoming plans for the band, the band leader said he couldn’t say anything yet.

The pandemic also disrupted his plans to take an English test originally slated for this month. It was a shame, to be frank, but staying healthy is more important, especially at a time like this, said the performer.

“I’ve got to say, though, studying is the hardest. Some say it is the easiest but for me, it’s too hard,” he said.
