South Korean boy band Bangtan Boys became the highest-charting Korean act on Billboard's main albums chart with its new album "Wings," according to the chart on Monday (US time).

The group's second studio album claimed the 26th spot on the Billboard 200 chart, the highest position ever reached by a Korean singer and the second highest by an Asian singer.

Including the new release, the group's last three albums charted, another first for the K-pop scene. BTS previously ranked 171st for "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Pt. 2" in November and No. 107 for "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever" in May.

Jeff Benjamin of Billboard published an article titled, "BTS' 'Wings' Sets New US Record for Highest-Charting, Best-Selling K-pop Album" to mark the day. (Yonhap)
