South Korean boy band Bangtan Boys debuted at 62nd place on the top British chart for this week's most popular albums, becoming the first Korean act to be on the list, according to the chart updated on Friday.

The group ranked at No. 62 on the Official Albums Chart Top 100 and at No. 16 on the indie albums chart for its second full-length album "Wings."

The charts are compiled by the Official Charts Company, based on sales of CDs, downloads, vinyl and weighted audio streams. In 2012, South Korean rapper Psy's "Gangnam Style" topped the Official Singles Chart Top 100 for his global hit song "Gangnam Style." But no Koreans have put their names on the albums chart before BTS.

The second LP proved the group's global influence, sweeping music charts in South Korea, other Asian countries and the United States upon its release. It has also topped iTunes albums' chart in U.S. and the regional charts of 97 countries around the world.

The video for "Blood, Sweat & Tears," the title track, surpassed 20 million YouTube views on Saturday afternoon in the fastest pace
among K-pop boy bands, which is 136 hours after it was released. (Yonhap)
