Controversial actress Clara said in an interview with SBS entertainment show that she felt “nervous” and “cautious” about her return to Korean entertainment.

In an interview with Korean media after yearlong absence in the drama scene, Clara also said her visit to Lee Kyu-tae, the ex-president of her former entertainment agency who is currently in detention for an unrelated graft allegation, was a show of “respect.”

Clara, who is mired in litigation with Lee, the former president of Polaris Entertainment, dropped her suit against him in September after the agency agreed to nullify her contract. She left Korea after the agreement was reached. Lee was arrested over allegations of corruption in an arms brokerage business.

She added that the litigation was “unnecessary.”

The 31-year-old is currently on location for an upcoming Chinese TV drama, “Chocolate Stuffed with Happiness.”

Below is the transcript of Clara’s interview Wednesday

[On returning to TV]
“This is my first interview with Korean media in the last 12 months."

“I feel nervous, somewhat awkward (to be on camera). It took nine years to get attention from the public and at one moment all my efforts over those nine years were rubbed out. I asked myself, ‘What was the problem? Where did everything start?’”

“I was anonymous for a long time and I didn’t know how to respond to a sudden wave of attention from fans. I learned that I should contemplate before making any utterance.”

[On why she dropped her lawsuit]

“Our lawyers and staff didn’t want to drag the issue out longer. And Lee didn’t want it either. We reached a sort of settlement.”

[On the reason she met agency president Lee]
“I thought I was supposed to do so, as a show of respect and courtesy. I told him ‘It was an unnecessary fight. It was an emotional conflict. We were both too self-righteous to each other.’ I felt relieved (after visiting him.)”

[On her plans to return to Korean drama scene]
I’m cautious (about being closer to Korean fans). Clara as a sex symbol was the image fans liked, among many others. It depends on what I do. I have to do my best to convince my fans.
