In the latest episode of popular TV drama “Reply 1988,” protagonist Deok-sun (Lee Hyeri) finds out her secret crush Sun-woo (Go Kyung-pyo) has feelings for her sister Bo-ra (Ryu Hye-young) instead of her.

On the sixth episode, which aired Saturday, Sun-woo confessed to his friends that he has had a crush for someone for two years. Deok-sun, who believes Sun-woo likes her back, tells him to reveal his feelings on the first day of snow.

Finally the first snow came and Sun-woo runs to Deok-sun’s house. Deok-sun is happy to see him but Sun-woo asks where her sister Bo-ra is. When she realizes it was her sister Bo-ra -- who she despises -- that Sun-woo likes, she cries, expressing her deep dismay.

While it was a sad moment for Deok-sun, it was a moment of relief for Jung-hwan (Ryu Jun-yeol), who had a crush on Deok-sun.

Now, after the Saturday’s episode, Sun-woo, who was one of the most likely candidates to be Deok-sun’s future husband, is ruled out from the possibilities. Instead, the two most likely candidates are Jung-hwan and Taek (Park Bo-geom), a star Go player. Taek, who appeared to be a shy guy in past episodes, asks Deok-sun to see a movie together.

“Reply 1988” follows two previous installments and takes the plotline of going back and forth between the present and the past -- in 1988 -- to keep viewers guessing which characters end up getting married.

The latest sixth episode drew a record viewership of 10 percent nationwide, proving its surging popularity across age groups.

“Reply 1988” centers on family and everyday life against the backdrop of a small Seoul neighborhood in 1988. The 20-episode series airs every Friday and Saturday at 7:50 p.m. on cable channel tvN.
