Hyeri from K-pop girl group Girl’s Day, who is currently starring as lead character Sung Deok-sun in tvN drama “Reply 1988,” rose to instant stardom after a few episodes hit the airwaves.

The 21-year-old singer and actress, who debuted in 2012 as a member of Girl’s Day, did not receive much spotlight in the beginning of her career.

However, she saw her turning point after appearing on MBC variety show “Real Men” where she showed off her charm as a cute, niece-like image to male fans. Still, she was not recognized as an actress yet.

Expectations were not high for Hyeri among entertainment insiders and viewers when she was cast in the role for the drama.
Things are different now, however. Many fans have fallen in love with Hyeri’s character.

After only four episodes aired, more and more viewers have praised Hyeri for her acting skills in portraying her character so naturally. She also does everything required for the drama from dancing awkwardly to reviving some of the trends from the past.

Hyeri now receives constant calls for next soap operas and commercials.

Her agency Dream T Entertainment said, “Hyeri is invited to feature multiple TV commercials -- clothing, cosmetics, drink and food. But she is not able to make it due to her schedule for the drama.”

Amid growing popularity, Hyeri, already a heroine of the drama, is expected to attract more fans and viewers.

“Reply 1988” airs every Friday and Saturday at 7:50 p.m. on tvN.
