After openly admitting her first official relationship with musician Chang Kiha, IU wrote a heartfelt message to her fans to offer apologies and thanks.

Earlier in the day, a local tabloid reported the scoop on the starlet’s so-far incognito love life. IU personally confirmed the rumors on her fan club’s online website by directly addressing the fans ? known as Uaena -- and admitting her two-year on-going relationship.

Following is a translation of her message in full:

“Uaena, I write to you in the middle of my music video shoot. I was surprised by the sudden outbreak. But you, Uaena, must be even more shaken than I am. I’m sorry to have shocked you, and for not telling you first.

“If you would admonish me for not being cautious enough, I’m also sorry to have let you down. It’s been almost two years since I have dated him. We met at a radio show for the first time and I immediately fell in love with him. He’s a boyfriend with lots to learn from. I’m in an ordinary relationship rife with love, fights, apologies and thanks.

“I had been worrying myself about how to break this news to you, but I was outpaced. It looks like I’ll be continuing this relationship openly now. I know there will be awkward sentiments among you, Uaena. I’m sorry to have caused that to our cute friendly space. I am most touched by Uaena who are worrying and caring for how I would be feeling at this moment. All the concerns, support and hurt feelings. … I’m so sorry and also I thank you.

“I’ve imagined this situation thousand times over in my head, but now that it’s here I don’t know what to say. I’ll continue my work with my head held high. I hope your day is not ruined because of me. … I’ll be back.”

IU is currently finishing production on her upcoming album, while Chang Kiha will embark on a nationwide tour.
