Actress Kim Tae-hee, whose notoriety for poor acting rivals her famed beauty, displayed an improved performance in the fifth episode of medical drama “Yongpal,” which aired Wednesday.

In the latest episode, Kim’s character -- the rich heiress Han Yeo-jin who was purposefully left in a coma by her greedy family -- is awakened by the competent doctor Kim Tae-hyun, played by Joo Won.

Critics deemed that despite concerns, Kim managed to pull off the insecure and scared state of the betrayed heroine.

“Yongpal” airs Wednesdays and Thursdays on SBS at 10 p.m.
