In Wednesday’s episode of medical drama “Yongpal,” Kim Tae-hyun gained access to millionaire heiress Han Yeo-jin’s sickroom.

Tae-hyun, played by actor Joo Won, is a mercenary medic who is eager to cross risky lines to acquire funds for his ailing sister.

In the latest show, he saves a VIP patient and as a reward, asks for access to the 12th floor, where all the privileged patients stay -- including the female lead Han, played by actress Kim Tae-hee.

Tae-hyun is a complicated character with conflicting drives who values monetary success and yet views the universal importance of life regardless of status and wealth.

Joo Won is rapidly picking up fans as a heroic everyday Joe, turning the latest SBS drama into a sweeping success.

The next episode of “Yongpal” will air on Thursday at 10 p.m. on SBS.
