Singer Jeon So-mi, formerly of project girl group I.O.I, has signed on with a record label under YG Entertainment after parting ways with JYP Entertainment in August.

The Canadian-Korean singer’s new agency, The Black Label, confirmed the move in a statement released Monday.

The label also said the singer is likely to debut as a solo artist.

A number of agencies had reportedly vied to sign on the singer, who already has stage and training experience.

In an Instagram post uploaded Tuesday, Jeon appeared to be enjoying some quality rest time while on holiday in the Netherlands.

“Happy to be here. Finally feels free,” the singer wrote, along with a series of pictures in which she embraced autumn in a coat.

Jeon rose to fame after coming out on top of Mnet’s popular competition show “Produce 101.”
