Hyolyn, a former member of now-disbanded girl group Sistar, revealed the story behind the tattoo on her stomach.

On the episode of the tvN talk show “Life Bar” that aired Thursday, Hyolyn appeared as a guest star with comedian Song Eun-i and Ahn Young-mi.

Host Han Hye-jin asked Hyolyn if there was a story behind the big tattoo on her stomach.

The singer replied that she got the tattoo to conceal a cross-shaped scar from two laparotomies she underwent when she was younger.

“I wondered what would be suitable to cover this scar and came up with the idea of getting a cross-shaped tattoo,” Hyolyn said. “I got over the complex about the scar after getting the tattoo.”

Hyolyn added that she sometimes receives inspiring thank-you messages from those whose children suffer biliary atresia, which she had suffered in her childhood.
