TV series “Descendants of the Sun” fans will remember a pub in downtown Uruk, one of Yoo Si-jin (Song Joong-ki) and Seo Dae-young (Jin Goo)’s favorite places to hang out. Yoo even invites the love of his life Kang Mo-yeon (Song Hye-kyo) there for a casual meal together.

Such scenes, against the background of the sleek bar in downtown Uruk, were filmed in a cozy pub at the heart of Itaewon that is popular with expatriates in Seoul.

Don’t be surprised: The same pub features in the music video for EXO’s “Lightsaber,” a “Star Wars”-themed song released in 2015. Sehun slowly walks upstairs while resting a lightsaber on the right shoulder.

Named Seoul Pub, the bar looks like yet another random anonymous bar in Seoul, with outdated yellow exterior signs with tricolored Taegeuk logos on them.

The 2-decade-old venue is easily accessible from the subway. Visitors to the pub can get there by leaving Exit 4 of Itaewon Station and walking a few yards.

Visitors play pool or darts, or just sit down and enjoy a lazy evening, reading or talking to other punters. Its owner Jung In-cheol makes a shot tower, or blows fire to make flaming alcohol, which excites customers at the bar.

The background of the round table where Yoo and Kang have dinner, is well-preserved, with pictures of three men hanging out at a bar enjoying beer still there.

The 49-year-old pub owner, who has run the bar since 1995, stresses the need for the improved drinking culture in Korea in multiple interviews. “No Entrance. ‘Drunken,’ ‘Fighting,’ ‘Sleeping,’ ‘Bothering,’ ‘Picking Up.’” reads a sign at the front door.

The nighttime view of one of the busiest streets in Seoul, with Hamilton Hotel towering over the street, is also a must-see thing.
