K-pop boy band EXO member Suho’s father has reached a settlement with a person who spread false rumors about him.

The person in question had claimed that Suho’s father, Kim Yong-ha, a professor at Soonchunhyang University, is pro-Japanese, alleging that Kim is a member of a committee named Citizens United for Better Society. According to the rumor, the committee belongs to the New Right, a group which once opposed to making public the list of pro-Japanese Koreans.

Kim, however, said it was just a rumor and called for further investigation.

On Monday, Kim decided to forgive the person who spread the rumors in exchange for a letter of apology posted on the website where Kim was initially attacked.

The apology letter included his confession of the wrongful statement made earlier and revelation of the truth. “I acknowledge that I created rumors about Suho’s father saying he is pro-Japanese, which is not true. I have harmed Suho’s reputation by spreading rumors and I sincerely apologize,” he said.
