Doyoung of NCT hurriedly adjusted his hair as he began his solo livestream. He put on a mask, then took it off, before explaining to fans that he was totally bare-faced.

“I wanted to do this yesterday but as you know, I went to Taeyeon’s concert,” he said.

Explaining why Renjun had not gone to Taeyeon’s concert, he said: “It would have been even better if we’d gone together, but actually the bandmates of (NCT) Dream are kind of taking it slow as they will not be able to (rest) during the Lunar New Year’s Day holidays since they will be performing in Japan.

“I so wanted to share the lingering excitement from the concert, but having been to it alone, I can now finally talk about it with you and am so happy,” said the idol.

He confided that he’d gotten goose bumps listening to the vocalist belting out the theme song from “Frozen 2” and really wanted to show his appreciation.

“But she is too senior, so I cannot compliment her in person,” added Doyoung sheepishly.

Tomorrow X Together baffled by song challenge

The bandmates were challenged to sing songs with just one syllable for each verse, during the second episode of their variety program. Beomgyu picked a piece of paper from a bunch and the first song in the challenge was So Chan-whee’s “Tears.” Seeing the title, Soobin confided that he was not familiar with the song.

Yeonjun, on the other hand, was confident from the beginning -- yet he was the first one to fail, blurting out two syllables when it was his turn. In the next round, Soobin and Beomgyu made mistakes and Taehyun said, “All the (band) members are so cute,” with his teeth clenched.

After six tries, they managed to clear the first mission and then Yeonjun realized they had to finish two more songs within the time limit to win the reward.

They were slightly relieved, however, when Hueningkai picked “Run Away” -- but it turned out to be too hard, even when they tried ignoring the rhythm and melody.

Seventeen’s Hoshi checks in from LA

Hoshi of Seventeen took to V Live while enjoying a boxed meal in his hotel room after the band’s concert in Los Angeles.

“I don’t eat much before going onstage or else my stomach would feel weird from all the moving and running around,” he told viewers. He had a quick bite of an In-N-Out Burger before the live show and was hungry again.

“We had a great time and although this is our first time performing here, it was almost a sold-out concert,” he said, thanking fans. They would be shooting something the next day and would head to San Jose, said the idol, chuckling sheepishly and saying his manager had kindly reminded him with a message just now.

He also showed off a thin red bracelet with a gold ornament, explaining that it was a gift from Wen Junhui’s mother for all band members born in the Year of the Rat.

Then he opened the box of American Chinese takeout, telling viewers that although he didn’t know what exactly it was, it had come highly recommended from the band’s staff, before taking the first bite.

The four bandmates from Winner gathered to celebrate the birthday of Kang Seungyoon.

“In about 30 minutes, it will be Seungyoon’s birthday,” said Lee Seunghoon. Then the birthday boy raised his fist and shouted excitedly that he would be 27.

He then told fans that the band had more good news to share: There would be an encore concert in Seoul on Feb. 14-15.

They applauded the announcement and explained that holding the live show had been a quick decision and it had been impossible to reserve a bigger venue.

“We were lucky to have this venue,” agreed the bandmates, grateful to be performing at Kyung Hee University’s Grand Peace Palace. Song Mino quipped that they had even thought about busking on the streets.

“I heard it is a special theater ... and I am all the more excited,” said Lee.

“It might be better for a band performance,” Kang agreed, adding that they had been as nervous as the fans about whether they would be able to keep their promise to hold an encore concert.
