The four members were busy getting ready for a party -- trying on clothes and putting on makeup -- before they gathered for a group dance and began clapping and swinging ponytails. With hypnotic lyrics, the title song shows off the band’s signature energy.

The girl group will impress fans March 14 with the release of the seven-track EP, which includes collaborative work with veteran singer Kim Gun-mo. The EP is also the fourth and final album in a yearlong project inspired by each member of the team.

The youngest rapper from the boy band and the “Produce 101” finalist have formed a unit bearing their names. The album title also combines their birth years, 1998 and 2001, underlining the chemistry between the two.

In a media conference held at a showcase event for the new single, the Taiwanese-born singer-rapper expressed his great respect for Wooseok. “Since I was 10, I have loved him,” said Lai Kuanlin, smiling. “As he is so tall, he stood out and my eyes would naturally be drawn to him. He is a great rapper and dances so well, too. So I wanted to be like him.”

Wooseok recalled meeting his younger singing partner: “When he first joined the company, many people told me there was a new kid that was very much like me. I went to see for myself and there he was, his eyes full of admiration.”

Riding in a car on the way to meet fans there, Jaemin, Jeno and Jisung of NCT Dream -- aka JJJ -- went live, amazed that over 40,000 fans were on the app. The three members of the six-member unit kept playing with words, one of their favorite pastimes, and briefly spoke over the phone with Chenle, who wished the “cuties” luck. Jaemin showed off his pink fluffy doll, named “Buntaengi,” and seemed disappointed that the other two didn’t share his fondness, lamenting “Why don’t you guys like this?”
