Year-end music shows are the time for K-pop artists to expose their hidden charms and wow fans with unexpected collaborations, stage effects and glossy performances.

And with expectations running high for the upcoming 2018 KBS Song Festival, here is what to expect from the show set to air live later in the day at 8:30 p.m.

1. Star-studded lineup

The 2018 KBS Song Festival will feature one of the most impressive star-filled lineups in its history.

The show will feature 30 acts, including headliners BTS, EXO, Twice, Wanna One, Red Velvet, Seventeen, GFriend, BTOB, Apink, Hwang Chi-yeol, Sunmi, Chungha, Oh My Girl, Norazo, AOA, Vixx, Nu’est W, GOT7, Monsta X, NCT 127, Yong Joon-hyung, 10CM, Roy Kim, Lovelyz, Momoland, Cosmic Girls, the Boyz, Kim Yeon-ja and Celeb Five.

Featuring this year’s most prominent artists and breakout rookies makes the show more appealing than ever.

2. Transgenerational performances

According to organizers, the song festival will offer musical joy to audiences of all generations.

“The show will unite audiences of all ages with its eye-popping dance performances and the musicians’ songs that will make you dance. It will be a truly fantastic song festival,” said KBS in a released statement.

3. Special collaborations

While much of the show’s special performances are still being kept under wraps, what we know is there will be amazing collaborations between artists.

Global boy band phenom BTS previously announced that it would stage a brand new performance never shown anywhere before at the annual year-end K-pop music show.

It has also been said that Joy of Red Velvet, Mijoo of Lovelyz, Jiho of Oh My Girls, Sowon of GFriend, Tzuyu of Twice and Yeonwoo of Momoland will join forces to perform “Hush,” a hit released by now-defunct girl group MissA in 2013.

They are expected to stun the audience with a captivating pole dance, a signature feature of the sultry song.

The show will also see special performances from artists under S.M. and JYP Entertainment.

The 2018 KBS Song Festival takes place at KBS Hall in Seoul.
