K-pop girl group Twice is making history with “Yes or Yes,” which recently became the first Korean album to attain the No. 1 rank on Japan’s Oricon weekly album chart.

According to the Japanese-language Oricon News on Tuesday, Twice’s latest album, released Nov. 5, topped the chart with 33,000 points. It was the first K-pop album to rank No. 1 with its original Korean release.

The surprising news came two months after the band’s J-pop album “BDZ” set another record, getting 89,721 points on the date of its release -- the highest number of points on the Oricon daily album chart for any K-pop girl group since the chart’s inception in 2008.

Twice is set to make history again in 2019 by becoming the first K-pop girl group to go on a Japanese “dome tour.” Its stops will include massive stadiums such as Tokyo Dome, Nagoya Dome and Osaka Kyosera Dome.
