IU looks set to advance her career as an actress, as she will star in a highly anticipated film project involving four big-name directors.

In charge of the project, Mystic Entertainment said Wednesday that it will be producing an original series starring IU as the lead actress, in cooperation with four top Korean film directors.

The directors are Lim Pil-sung, Lee Kyung-mi, Kim Jong-kwan and Jeon Go-woon, who produced the films “Antarctic Journal,” “Crush and Blush,” “The Table” and “Microhabitat,” respectively.

Each of them will work on a short film with a different topic and concept, and all four works will premiere as a series, the agency said. Further details of the upcoming project have yet to be revealed.

The upcoming series marks the singer-turned-actress’ debut on the big screen.

“Our original movie series is a new experiment and a challenge in the realm of short films. It will be interesting to see how the four directors create different stories with one actress,” an agency official said.
