Sunmi had to defend her manager from some stinging online criticism after a recent appearance on the MBC variety show “Omniscient.”

The singer and her manager, who have been working together for six years, appeared on the show together and their strong bond was obvious to the whole world. Online commentators thought Sunmi’s manager was treating her like a princess, feeding the singer chocolates and soup and following her everywhere.

Online comments made reference to a “hierarchy” with the singer at the top, and even included negative feedback about the manager’s appearance.




“It would depend on how you see it, but I feel upset when people I care are treated that way after (the critics have only seen) a part of them,” the singer tweeted Saturday.

Following Sunmi’s Twitter post, there were many more comments in defense of the singer and her manager, with some saying it was good that they had such a close relationship. Others said the manager was going her job by taking good care of her celebrity client.

Sunmi, formerly of Wonder Girls, has been ruling local music charts with her new single “Siren” ever since its release Sept. 5.
