Jeon So-mi, formerly of project girl group I.O.I, has left her agency JYP Entertainment.

The agency revealed Monday that the artist had decided to terminate her exclusive contract with JYP. It also expressed gratitude for the artist and fans for having supported her.

Jeon is a Canadian-Korean singer who finished first in Mnet K-pop competition “Produce 101” in 2016 and debuted with project girl group I.O.I. After the group’s disbandment last year, Jeon continued building her reputation as a TV personality, featuring in various TV shows and commercials while also preparing for a debut in a girl group under JYP.

A day before her parting with JYP, Jeon posted a message on her Instagram that read: “Dark night creates the brightest star. You (fans) are my everything. I love you so much and miss you.”

JYP, home to popular girl group Twice, is reportedly cultivating a new girl group.
