Red Velvet tops 6 major music charts in Korea

K-pop group Red Velvet’s new EP “Summer Magic” dominated major music charts shortly after its release.

The EP’s lead track “Power Up” swept Korean online music charts an hour after its release on Monday evening. The six online charts are Melon, Mnet, Genie Music, Bugs, Olleh Music and Soribada.

The act went on Naver V Live after the release of the album, saying, “Thank you for your support! We ranked top on music charts!”

“Summer Magic” has maintained its position on top of the charts, with not only “Power Up” staying put but other tracks also racing up the ranks.

In addition to the lead track, Red Velvet’s new EP contains seven tracks: “Mosquito,” “Mr. E,” “Hit That Drum,” “Blue Lemonade,” “With You” and the English version of “Bad Boy.”

The five-piece act debuted in August 2014 with the single “Happiness.” It has released various hits including “Ice Cream Cake,” “Red Flavor” and “Peek-A-Boo.”
