As a representative of Nike, Amber from f(x) is using her Instagram account to promote a positive body image and confidence to her 5 million followers.

On Sunday, Amber revealed that she has had insecurities about her body and has struggled with accepting her physical appearance in a caption that accompanied a photo of her in sponsored Nike gear.

“For a long time, people made me feel ashamed of my body. Then I became ashamed of my body. People wanted me to be weak because that’s what a girl ‘should’ be like. I threw away my ambitions and goals,” shared Amber.

She went on to say, “Well, I’m not that person anymore. I will always continue to work hard, become stronger, and learn to love myself for who I am, imperfections and all.”

Her bold statement and willingness to share that she has experienced the same challenges many women face today have touched many fans, who left heartfelt comments.

People continue to post comments along the lines of “Wow, I was feeling so insecure about my body today, and this comforted me,” and “You made me feel less ashamed of my body and love myself more, and I would like to thank you. You’re amazing don’t let others bring you down.”

Her photo garnered nearly 426,000 likes in two days.

Amber debuted with f(x) in 2009 and made her solo debut in 2015. Although she will continue to stay with her company, S.M. Entertainment, she recently signed with US record label Steel Wool Entertainment and is set to have a US solo debut soon.
