Wendy of Red Velvet dropped “That Summer” last Monday, a collaborative track with Yang Da-il who also co-wrote the song. One reason the summer ballad garnered a lot of attention is its music video starring the Wanna One star Park Woo Jin.

Wendy and Yang Da-il unveiled a live performance version of the song Saturday, which received more than two million likes on Naver’s V LIVE within the first 18 hours.

“That Summer” sings of a fleeting summer love that lasted briefly “like the summer night.” Wendy, who is often deemed Red Velvet’s strongest vocalist, showed off her versatility with this emotive R&B, an impressive shift from the usual upbeat bubblegum pop tracks of Red Velvet.
