Soloist Paul Kim revealed that he and his agency received threats from another K-pop agency for turning down an offer.

On Wednesday, Kim uploaded a lengthy post on his social media account recounting how his career was threatened by power tripping.

According to the artist, he recently received a request to record a soundtrack for a drama series within a month from an agency that that had close ties with his agency Neuron Music. He turned down the offer, citing his conflicting schedules for concerts. Shortly after, staff from Kim’s agency received a phone call from the head of the other agency, who allegedly threatened the singer and his agency by saying, “I’ve done manager work for more than 20 years. How long have you been a manager? Is there anyone you know in this industry?”

“I can’t believe that he (the agency head) threatened our career, which is like our life. Thinking about how often this kind of thing has happened before, my agency and I need to get tougher,” he wrote.

He ended his post by explaining why he decided to share the story.

“Our agency staff and people around me opposed the idea of uploading this post out of fear of additional damage, but I couldn’t understand why I had to wait and hide this, when I didn’t do anything wrong and was treated badly. I can’t live like that,” said Kim.

Kim debuted in 2014 with the single “Would You Like Some Coffee” and gained popularity after recording soundtracks for dramas such as “Should We Kiss First” and “Black Knight.”
