Singer-turned-actress Kim Jae-kyung is to play an elite detective in the upcoming MBC drama series “Bad Papa.”

The plot centers on a former boxer who has lost everything and his bid to redeem himself. Jang Hyuk has been confirmed to take the lead role of the boxer. Kim and Jang will work on solving a mysterious case together. Rising actress Shin Eun-soo will play the daughter.

Debuting as a member of girl band Rainbow in 2009, Kim has been focusing on her acting career since the group disbanded in 2016. She has played supporting roles in various productions and is currently featuring in OCN’s “Life on Mars.”

The Monday-Tuesday series “Bad Papa” is set to air in September.
