Jung Chae-yeon of DIA will star in a new KBS drama, according to her agency.

MBK Entertainment said Monday that the singer will play a lead role in KBS 2TV’s upcoming drama titled “To Jenny” for the first time in her acting career. “To Jenny” is a music drama that combines indie music and a story of first love. Jung will play a role of a girl who makes her way out of difficulties to achieve her dream, and rookie actor Kim Sung-chul will play the role of a guy who expresses his love for Jung through singing. Kim gained popularity through his recent appearance on “Prison Playbook.”

“It’s exciting and meaningful as it is my first lead role. When my casting was confirmed, I felt burdened as it was a music drama. I feel like I should work harder as I lack in a lot of things. Thank you to the
‘To Jenny’ staff for casting me although I’m lacking,” Jung said.

The DIA vocalist made her acting debut as a supporting actress with tvN’s “Drinking Solo” in June last year.

“To Jenny” is set to premiere on July 10 at 11 p.m.
