Mina, Sana and Momo of Twice surprised their fans with surprise V Live broadcasts on Monday.

The three Japanese members of the nine-piece girl group, also collectively known as ‘Misamo,’ went live on Naver’s V app for five consecutive broadcasts.

The trio mostly conversed in Japanese throughout the live broadcast, which went on for about 50 minutes in total.

Some fans pointed out that non-Japanese speaking fans were being sidelined. V app livestreams, though generally spontaneous and informal, are designed to serve as a platform for communication between stars and their fans. Understandably, some of the tri-national group’s fans, which boast a huge Korean base, expressed frustration.

“I left comments asking Misamo to speak in Korean but they kept speaking in Japanese,” said one viewer. However, others came to Misamo’s defense, saying that “it’s only natural they would speak in Japanese among themselves. They are Japanese after all.”

The broadcasts have been viewed over 500,000 times in total as of Tuesday.

GFriend unveiled a 40-minute clip of memorable instances from their time working on the 2018 mini album on Naver’s V app on Monday.

The six-member girl group released its new single “Time for the Moon Night” on April 30, which became an instant success on music charts in and out of Korea.

“A lot of fans came to see us despite today being a weekday,” said Sowon, expressing gratitude towards fans who have come to see the group on set. “I was so nervous at first but when I saw you guys at the back I felt a lot better,” said Umji.

“Time for the Moon Night” marks a departure from the groups past singles, which were characterized by vibrant pop accompanied by sweet lyrics and synchronized dance moves. The retro-inspired new single has a melancholy and emotive touch. The choreography individualizes, rather than uniforms, the six members.

Are you ever curious how the GOT7 boys hang out backstage?

JYP Entertainment’s boy group disclosed some rare footage of its break time backstage on Naver’s V app Monday.

The entire clip is composed of random instances of the members in their natural habitat. Mark constantly munched on snacks, while Youngjae caught up on sleep lounging on the couch. Jackson showed off his freshly shaven jawline and Jinyoung preened himself in front of the mirror. The clip ends with Mark bursting into a most candid laughter.

GOT7 is currently in Paris for its 2018 concert tour.

Naver’s real-time broadcasting app V allows fans to interact with their favorite K-pop stars through live broadcasts. The app is available for Android and iOS. For more information, visit http://www.vlive.tv.
