Boy band NU’EST W celebrated its member JR’s birthday in a live broadcast held via Naver’s V app Friday.

While the birthday boy was holding a broadcast alone, the lights suddenly went out and his bandmates entered the room holding a birthday cake and singing “Happy Birthday.”

JR blew out the candles on the cake and wished, “I hope all the LOVEs (NU’EST fan club members) and my bandmates stay healthy.”

In the broadcast, many fans asked about what happened after Ren posted the video of JR working out shirtless on Instagram in celebration of his bandmate.

On the post, JR commented, “Min-ki (Ren’s real name), I will go back home now.” Ren wrote in reply, “I locked my door” but JR replied, “I’m going up now.”

“He uploaded it while I was holding the V app broadcast! At first I also wondered if that was actually me,” JR said. “I don’t usually show my skin -- I hate doing that. But he just revealed it.”

“He doesn’t wear short sleeves even in summer.” Baekho agreed.

“As it was the day of Jong-hyun (JR’s real name), I wanted to please LOVEs,” Ren said.

In the broadcast, it was revealed that Ren indeed locked his door. “I locked the door and didn’t open it because I thought a serious thing might happen if I go out. I hid in my room,” he said.

The two still reassured fans that they had now made peace with each other.

The main cast of director Park Hoon-jung’s new mystery-action film “Witch” communicated with viewers in a live broadcast via Naver’s V app Friday. Participating actors were Kim Da-mi, Jo Min-soo, Park Hee-soon and Choi Woo-shik.

During the broadcast, the four shared their thoughts on the film and revealed anecdotes from the shoot.

“(‘Witch’) will be the starting point of a new chapter of Korean film,” Jo said. “The audience reaction is important for films. If the viewers don’t watch the film, the acting has no meaning. Your point of view is that important.”

She said she joined the film because she liked the script very much. It was her return to the big screen after a four-year absence.

“There are many male (centered) films but director Park Hoon-jung suggested having female as protagonist so I took the role,” she said.

Park Hee-soon, who worked with the director for the third time, said “The directing style of the director became more detailed and fierce.”

“But he also took more takes so it was a bit annoying,” he added archly.

Park Hoon-jung is an award-winning director and screenwriter known for 2015’s “The Tiger: An Old Hunger’s Tale” and 2013 crime drama “New World.”

The new flick tells the story of a high school girl who becomes a killer weapon following a biological experiment. It is set to hit the cinemas here on June 27.

Girl group Laboum celebrated its member Solbin’s last day as a presenter for KBS’ weekly music show “Music Bank” in a live broadcast held via Naver’s V app Friday.

In the broadcast, the Laboum bandmates surprised Solbin in her waiting room with a bunch of flowers.

Solbin, who entered the room while crying, was surprised to see her bandmates and struggle to stop crying.

“I just feel so grateful and I want to thank fans who greeted me on my way to work for a year and 10 months,” she said between her tears. “I just had a flood of emotions.”

During the KBS show on Friday, she said, “I was happy to introduce K-pop to you every Friday. I want to thank the ‘Music Bank’ staff and my agency staff for making such a happy and precious experience.”

“I want to say thank you and I love them for the fans, my bandmates and family who have been supporting me for a year and 10 months,” she said.

She recently was cast in an action film “Survivorship Bias” (unofficial translation).
