Wanna One’s Hwang Min-hyun, Ong Seong-wu and Kim Jae-hwan appeared in a prerecorded episode of reality show “Hello Counselor” that aired Monday night. The show aired around the same time as a controversy-stoking live music broadcast where private conversation between some Wanna One bandmates slipped on air, leading fans to criticize their “unfiltered and vulgar attitude” toward fans and staff.

Scandal aside, in the V clip the three bandmates showed off a dance routine from their latest song “I.P.U.” to a heated response from fans.

“Hello Counselor” is a program that gathers stories from ordinary people seeking advice from the program’s panel.

As part of an ice-breaking session, the three Wanna One singers spoke about their family background. Ong Seong-wu said he and his sister didn‘t talk so much before, but after he started to appear on TV, she now talks to him and says where she has seen him. Hwang Min-hyun shared a similar story, saying he used to quarrel a lot with his sister before, but now she takes selfies with him in the background.

Kim Jae-hwan, an only child, said he envies Ong and Hwang for having an older sister.

In the course of the program, Ong compared his life before and after his pop debut, as he gave advice to an anonymous writer about a “sister who says she wants to become a model but doesn’t put in any effort.”

Ong said, “I dreamed of becoming a celebrity for 10 years. During that time I have been on the polar sides of perseverance and letting go. Of course there were times when I felt frustrated and embarrassed, but I believed in myself, that I’m made to become big and one day things will work out for me.”

Ong emphasized that what‘s important is confidence and self-esteem.
