"Hope World," the first solo mixtape release by BTS singer J-Hope, climbed to 38th on the main album chart of Billboard, according to the U.S. music publication.

"Hope World" stood at 38th on the Billboard 200 for the week of March 17, according to Billboard's website Tuesday (local time). The album debuted on the main album chart of Billboard at No. 63 the previous week.

A mixtape refers to types of recordings, typically self-produced and independent albums, that are released for non-commercial purposes.

The Billboard 200 ranks the 200 most popular albums of the week, based on online and offline album sales and the number of streams. J-Hope beat his own record from last week to become the highest charting K-pop solo act ever on the Billboard 200.

Upon release, the album claimed the top spot on iTunes albums charts in 63 countries, including the United States, Britain, Canada, Brazil and Australia. Its lead song topped iTunes songs charts in seven countries, including Finland, Romania, Slovenia, Ukraine and Vietnam.

J-Hope became the third BTS member to drop a mixtape, after RM in 2015 and Suga in 2016. (Yonhap)
