Wanna One to grace KCON Japan next month

Wanna One, TWICE and other leading K-pop acts will grace the Japanese leg of KCON, a global Korean pop music and culture convention, next month, according to its organizer Monday.

The three-day event at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba, east of Tokyo, from April 13 will feature Wanna One, TWICE, Gugudan, Pentagon, GFriend, Fromis 9, Sunmi, Golden Child and Wooyoung of 2PM, according to CJ E&M.

The artists were announced in addition to the previously announced lineup of MOMOLAND, Seventeen, Stray Kids, Monsta X, SF9 and Samuel. Tickets will be sold through Japan‘s Ticket Pia starting Tuesday.

First launched in Irvine, California in 2012, KCON events are held annually in multiple countries around the world. The events have become an annual pilgrimage for K-pop fans around the globe, with more than 566,000 fans taking part throughout its seven-year run.

KCON Japan began in 2015 and has expanded in size every year to reach a three-year cumulative total of 96,000 visitors. (Yonhap)
