Park Jin-hee will replace Go Hyun-jung in SBS' troubled series 'Return'
(Yonhap) |
Actress Park Jin-hee is replacing Go Hyun-jung, who dropped out of a TV series on SBS amid conflicts with the production team, a PR agency said Tuesday.
3HW Communications announced that Park, 40, will take the role of the main character Choi Ja-hye in the murder mystery thriller "Return" after "serious consideration."
"Choi Ja-hye is an important character at the center of the story, and the role should be done by someone with excellent acting skills. Having said that, the production team decided to cast Park Jin-hee. She in turn decided to accept the offer after serious consideration," it said.
"The offer was a surprise, and I ruminated on the matter," the agency cited Park as saying. "I will do my best to help the drama continue to be loved by viewers."
She will start filming Tuesday and appearing in the drama Wednesday.
Go Hyun-jung officially left the drama last week, citing a "difference of opinion" with the production team.
According to her agency IOK Co., "The gap couldn't be narrowed despite continued efforts," and she was told by SBS to step down.
Premiering Jan. 17, the series is gaining popularity, with the viewership rating recently hitting 15 percent. But one rumor, among many others, surfaced that Go openly expressed dissatisfaction over her smaller-than-expected role in the drama, among many others.
"We offer viewers our sincere apology for the recent incident. We will do our best to repay you for your support," the production team said in a statement. (Yonhap)
