Fans in Japan are voicing outrage about the cancellation of the “K-plus concert in Tokyo” with only three days’ notice.

The concert had been originally scheduled from Monday to Jan. 14 with around 50 K-pop artists performing. According to Japan‘s Daily Sports, it is said that the concert was cancelled “with no clear reason or explanation” and fans, who have bought the ticket, are showering criticism at the concert organizer’s unprofessionalism.

A short notification on the concert’s homepage pops up: “The K-plus concert in Tokyo has been unfortunately canceled. Further details will be notified later on after all negotiations. Refund policies will be notified via the homepage.”

Organized and sponsored by MBC Music, the “K-plus concert in Tokyo” was widely promoted as a global K-pop concert being launched in Japan for the first time. Japan’s industry insiders are speculating that the “cancellation is likely due to unsuccessful sales in concert tickets” since the majority of K-pop artists featuring in the concert were “not that famous.” Artists Jeong Se-woon, HALO, MXM and Pentagon were initially part of the line-up.

With K-pop acts such as TVXQ, Big Bang, Twice and BTS taking Japan by storm, many industry insiders are concerned about the current situation and worry that the K-pop scene will suffer.
