Actor Lee Seung-gi did not disappoint fans as he transformed into Sonogong, the Chinese monkey character from tvN’s “A Korean Odyssey.”

Still photos of Lee on set were released Wednesday. Lee and show staff were reportedly in Samseong-dong, southern Seoul, shooting a scene on Nov. 12. That day, he wore a fur coat while flashing a bright smile upon arrival.

For the scene, Lee showed his professionalism taking on the role of Sonogong. His facial expression showed frustration and anger. He also appeared with scars covering his body and face.

Show staff at the set showered Lee with compliments, saying, “As we progress shooting for the scenes, Lee Seung-gi bears a high resemblance to Sonogong and Sonogong looks like Lee Seung-gi. We get confused sometimes.”

“A Korean Odyssey” is a modern-day reinterpretation of classic Chinese novel “Journey to the West.” Co-stars Cha Seung-won and Oh Yeon-seo will join Lee in tvN’s upcoming drama series, scheduled to premiere Saturday.
