GFriend’s Yuju celebrated her upcoming birthday in a live broadcast held via Naver’s V app Monday.

“It is two days before my birthday. Buddies (GFriend’s fan club members) sent me elaborate gifts and letters for me. They are now in the training room in the basement of Source Music (GFriend’s agency),” she said opening up the broadcast.

During the broadcast, the singer showed viewers the gifts from her fans, which included bedding, a sofa-bed and a pair of figure skates.

“And here they donated (for me). It seems that fans donate a lot (for their stars). I like it!” the singer said. Since about 2007, donating things such as rice, coal and trees has become a key part of Korean fan culture.

Yuju’s fans donated 100 kilograms of rice. She thanked her fans for performing such good deeds in celebration of her birthday.

She also got several birthday cakes. One recreated a scene from her group’s latest music video for “Summer Rain” while another had a figurine of the singer wearing an angel costume on top. As her birthday falls on Oct. 4 (10.04), the fans gave her a nickname of “angel.” When read in Korean, the number 1,004 sounds like “chun-sa” which is a homonym of angel in Korean.

“How about actually having wings on our stage costumes?” she said to her stylist.

“After this V app (live), I will unwrap all of these gifts you have chosen and packed for me. Thank you so much everyone!” she said.

NU’EST W said their upcoming new album will fit well with the season at the red carpet interview for “2017 Korea Music Festival” live broadcast via Naver’s V app Monday.

When asked how the group is doing recently, Baekho said “We are preparing for the next album. It will be released on Oct. 10.”

“I’m glad that I can perform onstage before the new release. It seems that we are having a decent warm-up before the new release,” he said.

“We are happy at the moment because (fans) support us a lot and provide good memories for us whenever we do something,” JR said. “I can feel that we’re getting much love recently and I promise that we will put our best foot forward.”

Choi Min-ki, JR, Baekho and Hwang Min-hyun of boy group NU’EST recently participated in the second season of Mnet’s survival audition program “Produce 101.” All except Hwang failed to secure a spot in the final 11-member group, but NU’EST regained public attention.

As Hwang had to leave the group due to his activities as a member of Wanna One, the project group formed on the Mnet show, NU’EST decided to resume its activities as a four-member subgroup, NU’EST W.

Ahn Hyung-seob and Lee Eui-woong, singer trainees from Yue Hua Entertainment, visited the Hanok Village in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province.

A teaser video released via Naver’s V app Monday showed the two experiencing various activities in the traditional village, such as drawing on a fan, wearing traditional school uniforms and walking around the hanok wearing traditional clothes.

The full episode will be released on Wednesday.

Ahn and Lee starred in the second season of Mnet’s survival audition show “Produce 101,” which brought together 101 male trainees from 54 local entertainment companies to compete for a spot in a new group. The two failed to secure spots in the final 11-member group but they are still enjoying high popularity thanks to the show.
