Shin Se-kyung and Kim Rae-won have been offered roles in SBS’ upcoming drama “Dark Knight” (unofficial translation).

The drama tells the story of a young successful businessman who accepts a dangerous fate on behalf of his lover. In Korea, the word “Dark Knight” often refers to a man who solves a difficult situation for a woman -- such as drinking alcohol instead of her during a drinking game.

Kim received an offer to play the male lead in the drama while Shin was offered the female lead. Both actors’ agencies said Sunday that they are currently considering the respective offers.

If Kim accepts the offer, it will be his return to small screen a year and a half since SBS’ “Doctors” in 2016. If Shin accepts the offer, it will make for a rather quick return, as her latest drama “The Bride of Habaek” just finished its 16-episdoe run in August.

The new SBS drama is set to air in December.
