“While You Were Sleeping,” SBS’ new drama featuring Suzy and Lee Jong-suk, reached No. 2 in viewership ratings for its first episode that aired Wednesday.

According to market research firm Nielsen Korea, the series recorded 9.2 percent in nationwide viewership, 2.5 percentage points higher than the last episode of “Reunited Worlds,” which had aired at the same timeslot before the new drama.

MBC’s medical drama “Hospital Ship,” which stars Ha Ji-won and Kang Min-hyuk, held onto the No. 1 spot, with a viewership rating of 10.8 percent.

“While You Were Sleeping” is about a young woman, Nam Hong-ju, who is able to foresee tragic events of the future in her dreams, and Prosecutor Jung Jae-chan, who does everything in his power to prevent such events from taking place.

It was penned by Park Hye-ryun, whose works include “I Hear Your Voice” (2013) and “Pinocchio” (2014), and directed by Oh Choong-hwan, who was behind the hit series “My Love from the Star” and “Doctors.”
