K-pop boy band 2PM took to Naver’s V app Monday to celebrate nine years since the group’s debut.

“We’ve made it to the ninth year, which is a notable achievement for a boy band,” said Taecyeon to open the broadcast.

Nickhun playfully posed the question, “Could we still call ourselves boy band after all these years?” to the band’s response, “Once a boy band, always a boy band.”

The band then took turns talking about what they’ve been up to recently.

Wooyoung said he is preparing for his solo album release in Japan and Taecyon said he had just finished shooting a TV series.

Nichkhun and Jun.K talked about a joint vacation they had spent in Thailand.

Chansung said he is practicing for his upcoming musical appearance and Junho heralded the release of his first solo album.

Just before the end of the broadcast, Taecyeon made a surprise announcement that he will soon be joining the military, saying, “Sorry I couldn’t tell you the details in advance. I wanted to join the military quietly without making a fuss. I’ll be back soon.”

Military service for men is compulsory in South Korea, as it is still technically at war with its northern neighbor.

The band expressed their gratitude to the fans to wrap up the broadcast.
