Movie about ‘comfort women’ to star Kim Hae-sook, Kim Hee-ae
Actresses Kim Hae-sook and Kim Hee-ae will appear in the upcoming film about Asian women sexually enslaved by Japan during World War II, euphemistically called “comfort women.”
According to local reports, Kim Hae-sook will play a former comfort woman who has to deal with psychological trauma, while Kim Hee-ae will play a businesswoman.

The film will start shooting next month and will hit theaters next year.
Comfort women are one of the biggest scars left by Japan’s 1910-1945 colonization of Korea. There are currently 37 surviving victims registered with the government.
