Music video director Lee Sa-gang revealed that she had been offered the female lead role in the hit drama “Autumn in My Heart” (2000), in the latest episode of MBC Every1’s talk show “Video Star.”

“It’s an immense story,” Lee said. “I didn’t tell anyone before because I thought people would say I’m crazy.”

She said director Yoon Seok-ho had offered her the female lead role, which was eventually played by Song Hye-kyo.

“At the time, I was not into acting, so I didn’t think deeply about the offer and told the director, ‘I want to be a director,’” she said, adding that Yoon had tried to persuade her to accept the role and had even suggested changing the name of the character to Sa-gang.

“I thought it was a good decision but when I watched the drama later, I felt it was a good decision also for Korea,” she said. “I could have changed the history of Hallyu.”
