Former I.O.I member Choi Yoo-jung said she lost some weight for her upcoming debut as a member of Weki Meki, in a recent interview with the local edition of fashion and lifestyle magazine Cosmopolitan.

“We’ve been completely occupied with preparing for Weki Meki’s debut in early August,” she said.

Weki Meki will be an eight-member girl group which includes Kim Do-yeon who is also from the project girl group I.O.I.

She said losing weight was part of her preparation for the new debut. “As I gained much weight while working as a member of I.O.I, my body line didn’t look pretty when dancing. And also to show a mature image, I decided to go on a diet,” she said.

During the interview, Choi also shared her diet routine. “I didn’t really work out but worked off so many calories practicing dancing. I was rigorous in my control of diet -- I had been fasting for a month eating things such as chicken breasts, sweet potatoes, cucumber and tomatoes.”

People looking to lose weight should consult a doctor before starting a new exercise or diet plan.
