Yoon Doo-joon of boy band Highlight celebrated his 28th birthday with fans via a live broadcast on Naver’s V app on Tuesday.

“It’s my birthday today. A lot of people celebrated my birthday including the fans, other members of Highlight, staff from agency and celebrity friends. My phone rang all day long,” Yoon said.

During his solo broadcast, he answered fans’ questions.

“It is my first time holding a broadcast alone. I feel very shy but it’s also very interesting. I think I need to communicate more with the fans,” he said.

He also had the birthday meal in front of the camera. The meal, which was cooked by his mother, included seaweed soup and galbijjim (braised short ribs). Korean people eat seaweed soup on their birthdays and galbijjim is a common party dish.

“I can have birthday thanks to my parents. I again express my appreciation to them,” Yoon said.

Yoo Seon-ho, a trainee from Cube Entertainment, boasted his close friendship with other trainees appeared on Mnet’s survival audition show “Produce 101 Season 2” in his first V app broadcast Tuesday.

Yoo starred in the competition show and finished it with the 17th spot, failing to own a spot in the final 11-member group.

“I like both Kang Daniel hyung and Hwang Min-hyun hyung,” Yoo said. “If you ask me who I prefer, I am close to both of them -- I am not closer to one and less close to the other.”

Korean men use the word hyung to address another man older than them whom they are close to.

“They also like and dote on me. So I try to be nice to them. They are also very nice to me so I like them very much,” he said.

“Well, Min-hyun hyung is special to me indeed,” he said. “But that doesn’t have to mean that I am close only to him. I am also very close to Choi Min-ki. I just finished a video call with him. I guess he’s watching this now.”

“Produce 101 Season 2” brought together 101 male trainees from 54 local entertainment companies to compete for a spot in a new group. The 11 finalists, including Kang and Hwang, formed the boy band Wanna One, which is set to debut this summer.

K-pop singer Lee Hyo-ri opened up about the plagiarism allegation regarding “Get Ya” in a live broadcast held via Naver’s V app Tuesday.

“Get Ya” is the lead track off her second full-length album “Black Angel” released in 2006. After the release, the track was soon caught up in a controversy that it is similar to Britney Spears’ “Do Something.”

“Since I enjoyed high popularity with ‘10 Minutes,’ I thought my second album would be received well as well,” she said. “But I felt gloomy due to the plagiarism dispute.”

She said the incident made her realize that things don’t always match up to one’s expectations. “I think it was a time for me to firm up,” she said.

Lee released her sixth full-length album “Black” on Tuesday.

Naver’s real-time broadcasting app V allows fans to interact with their favorite K-pop stars through live broadcasts. The app is available for Android and iOS. For more information, visit http://www.vlive.tv.
