Kim Se-jung of Gugudan confirmed her role in upcoming KBS drama “School 2017” on Monday.

Kim will play Ra Eun-ho, a student with bad grades who dreams to get into a good college as a webtoon artist.

“Kim Se-jung’s unique leadership and bright personality match well with the female lead’s character. The more we met Kim, the more we felt like we were seeing the real Ra Eun-ho,” an official from the production team said.

Kim You-jung had also received an offer to play the role, but reportedly declined.

“School 2017” will highlight important issues that Korean young people face, including those related to the culture of studying, bullying and love.

The teenage TV drama will premiere in July as the sequel to drama series “Fight for My Way.”
