The movie’s distributor NEW confirmed Thursday that the actor will star in the upcoming movie that starts filming in August.

In the large-scale historical film directed by Kim Kwang-sik, Zo will play Gen. Yang Man-chun, a Goryeo military commander who defended the Ansi Fortress against Tang Taizong’s army.

“I took the role because the movie portrayed an important historical moment and I could sympathize with Yang, a wise and chivalrous leader,” Zo said.

“I am very excited for it because the movie has a lot of actions.”

Zo returned to the big screen with “The King” in January after eight years of hiatus since “A Frozen Flower” in 2008.

With a budget of nearly 15 billion won ($13.26 million), “Ansi City” will premiere in 2018.
