Jang Jae-in released a new single “Carmin” along with its music video on Thursday.

The song, which is a mixture of jazz and folk music, is a new sound for the singer.

Star composer Park Geun-tae and Ok Jung-yong composed the song and Jang wrote the lyrics. Park produced the mega-hit “Dream” for Suzy and Baekhyun in 2016. To match the husky yet powerful vocal of Jang, Park blended jazz into the song.

The title “Carmin,” a French word meaning crimson color, depicts true love between couples. “I tried to observe love from various viewpoints while I wrote the lyrics. The movie ‘Before Midnight’ inspired me most,” Jang said. The music video was also filmed in France.
