K-pop stars entering university this year

A new semester brings new students. As the spring semester of 2017 draws nearer, many college freshmen busily prepare for their upcoming campus lives. Yet, some might also be wondering which K-pop stars they could bump into while strolling through campus.

The Korea Herald has compiled a list of K-pop stars who are ready to kick off their college lives in March.

1. Hyelim from Wonder Girls will become a freshman at the Department of English Interpretation and Translation at Hanguk University of Foreign Studies. The singer, 24, who studied in Hong Kong for a long time, is adept in four languages, including English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

2. K-pop girl group April’s Chaewon and Chaekyung are off to a new start at Sungshin University. Chaewon, 19, was accepted with the highest entrance score and will study in the Department of Contemporary Music, while Chaekyung, 20, will study at the Department of Acting for Visual Media.

3. Kim Dong-hyun, son of Korean comedian Kim Gu-ra, will study theater and film at Inha University. Kim, 18, also known as MC Gree since he debuted as a rapper, has been mired in controversy since last year, as many people have suspected him of taking advantage of his father’s fame to enter the university.

4. Singer Kim Heung-gook, 57, will also be a freshman this year. The seasoned singer decided to study in-depth musical theories by enrolling in the Department of Contemporary Music at Kyung Hee Cyber University.

5. Sehyung, Gowoon and Daye from Berry Good will enter Dongduk Women’s University. The three, 18, 18 and 19, respectively, will study in the Department of Media Arts and Entertainment.
