“New Trial,” an upcoming detective-mystery film starring Jung Woo and Kang Ha-neul, will be released on Feb. 15, a day earlier than originally planned, its distribution company OPUS Pictures said on Monday.

The film depicts a lawyer struggling to find the truth behind a murder case where a boy was sentenced to ten years after being falsely accused.

Jung, who soared in popularity after tvN’s hit drama “Reply 1994,” will play the lawyer Jun-young. Kang, who played Prince Wang Wook in SBS’ “Scarlet Heart: Ryeo,” will play the unfortunate boy Hyun-woo.

Directed by Kim Tae-yoon -- who was behind the movie “Another Promise” based on the legal battle between Korean corporate mogul Samsung and its employees -- the film is inspired by a true story of the “Yakchon five-Way intersection murder case.”
