‘Confidential Assignment’ surpasses 5m mark

Korean comedy-action movie “Confidential Assignment” sold 5 million tickets as of Wednesday.

The film drew more than 5 million filmgoers within 15 days of its national release, according to the data from Korean Film Council on Thursday.

“Confidential Assignment,” which stars Hyun Bin and Yoo Hae-jin, dethroned rival political thriller “The King.” The two movies have been competing at the box office since they premiered on Jan. 18, which saw “Confidential Assignment” come in as the runner-up in the opening weekend.

The film involves two policemen from South and North Korea hunting down a North Korean criminal group that has infiltrated into the South.
