Kim Tae-ri to join Kang Dong-won, Ha Jung-woo in ‘1987’
Korean actress Kim Tae-ri will join the cast of the upcoming film “1987,” which will depict the pivotal year of the Korean pro-democracy movement.
Kim’s agency J,Wide-Company confirmed the actress has been cast for a role in the movie and is expected to soon hold a meeting with the film’s producers to discuss the details.

Ha and Kim Tae-ri starred together in last year’s critically acclaimed “Handmaiden” from director Park Chan-wook.
Set in the same year as the title, “1987” will follow events that take took place during the politically turbulent year under the iron-fisted rule of Chun Doo-hwan. The torture and death of student protester Park Jong-chul triggered what came to be called the “June Struggle,” nationwide pro-democracy protests that ultimately brought down the authoritarian regime of Chun.
